Probably, we all have that moment when, waking up to the irritating sound of the alarm clock in the morning, you realize that you just can't take it anymore. That's how I was last week. Projects, deadlines, Tbilisi's endless traffic jams... I felt how unbearable everyday life was becoming. My cure at times like this is always the same: I grab my laptop, open airline websites, and look for a place where I can get a good rest and recharge with new energy.
This time, I settled on Switzerland. Not because I am interested in famous watches or banks, but because I needed absolute silence, the cold air of the Alps, and maximum closeness to nature.
How I Found My "Alpine Hideaway"
Since places crowded with tourists don't really appeal to me (especially when I want and need to relax), I ruled out Zurich and Geneva from the very beginning. As a result of my research, I found Lauterbrunnen – a small, fairytale village surrounded by 72 waterfalls. I bought the tickets that same evening.
Before packing my suitcase, I had one important thing to take care of: the internet. For me, traveling doesn't mean complete isolation. Sometimes I have to work on the go, check emails, or I just want to listen to my favorite podcast. And in Switzerland, as you know, standard European roaming doesn't work and is very expensive.
My loyal assistant, as always, was the mobineX app. I entrusted the AI assistant with selecting a package – I entered the country and the travel dates, and it automatically calculated which Swiss internet package was the best for me, and offered me a 5GB eSIM package. The activation took me exactly 2 minutes. By the way, the sign-up bonus received on mobineX, 10 free minutes, came in very handy as soon as I landed at the Zurich airport. While walking towards the train platform, I called my colleagues in Tbilisi directly through the app, agreed on the final details of the project, and after that, calmly, with a clear conscience, switched my brain to vacation mode.
Working on the Go
As soon as I flew into Zurich, my phone immediately connected to the 5G network. I quickly checked the train schedule using the SBB app and headed towards Lauterbrunnen.
I don't know if you've heard about Swiss trains, but it's a completely different dimension. The views unfolding from the windows look as if they are photoshopped. I opened my laptop, replied to a few emails, and realized: when you're working, and snow-capped Alpine peaks are visible from the window, stress disappears completely. The mobineX connection didn't drop even in the tunnels. This is the freedom I am always looking for – I can be anywhere and, at the same time, not fall out of my work rhythm if necessary.
Authentic Flavors and a Great Reset
I've been in Lauterbrunnen for two days now. This place is exactly as I imagined it. No noise, just waterfalls and the sound of cowbells.
This morning, I found a small shop of a local farmer (or rather, Google Maps found it for me). I tasted real Swiss Gruyère and freshly baked bread. These flavors are completely different from what we buy in supermarkets.
In the afternoon, I took a walk in the mountains. The colors are so vivid that they dazzle your eyes – green meadows, blue sky, and white peaks. This is exactly what I needed!
Tonight, I plan to do absolutely nothing. I will just sit on the wooden balcony, put on some jazz, and enjoy the peace. Switzerland has fulfilled its mission – I recharged and feel calm, yet full of energy.
In short, if you feel that routine is exhausting you, don't wait for the perfect moment. Just buy a ticket, sort out the technical details (internet is a must!), and allow yourself to unwind.
And now I bid you farewell. The Alps are calling me!
